B2Five keeps the Acid Rain train rolling with the second half of their second wave of products featuring the R711 Laurel LA3R and the K6 Jungle Speeder MK1K. These are repaints of the Laurel and Speeders released in the previously reviewed first and second waves.

Presentation: There isn’t really anything “new” with the boxes on these. Standard look/graphic layout and same strong cardboard used and the figures are packed well within the plastic clam shells. The paint applications are extremely well done and overall everything just looks very “clean.”

Build: These are entirely plastic pieces using a very thick and sturdy plastic with a nice finish to it. I love that the pilots are made from a plastic that’s a bit more pliable than the mechs because it really accentuates the playability of the pilots while giving the Laurel and Speeder more of a “vehicle” feel. It’s hard to describe but I believe it’s easy to understand when you have them in-hand.

Accessories: The pilots each come with a weapon (a handgun and rifle specifically) while the Speeder comes with adapters to attach the arms of Strongholds and Laurels while the R711 Laurel has a mountable gun, bullet pack/belt, and a nicely-sized grenade launcher. It’s a really badassed look when you see the Laurel all “dolled up.”

Articulation: The articulation on the pilots as previously reviewed is as impeccable as always. I can never get enough of them. The only mecha piece with any real articulation in this set is the Laurel which really has a good amount of range especially considering its more “stumpy” lower body. The range of motion in the arms in particularly is really well done and the articulated fingers is a nice plus.

Overall Score: 7.0/10 – Honestly for the price I think that these are great buys and it’s also great to see more versatility with their mech stuff in terms of new molds. By now you definitely know what you get with the Speeder as it’s the third iteration but a second Laurel is a very nice change of pace and it’s good to see that combination aspect that’s universal on all of these products be implemented
in another, new way. B2Five really has a great thing going and I’m especially looking forward to seeing what Wave 3 brings with that Jungle Chapel!
