CCSToys keeps the awesome train rolling with their homage to Shin Getter 1. There’s nothing to really say here besides that it’s amazing and you as a collector need to order this now but I’ll take the opportunity to detail why in this article as well as show it off in the gallery.

Presentation: Shin getter comes packaged a bit differently. What looks like a carboard shipper is actually the box itself with the contents being stored inside of layers of styrofoam. There is a sort of slip cover over the Styrofoam with really cool artwork that gives it the feel of more than just a cardboard box. Inside everything is really well packed and organized be it directly inside of the styrofoam or in one of multiple plastic clamshells within the styrofoam. It would’ve been nice to see more traditional packaging but frankly this figure and its accessories are so big and heavy that I can get why the styofoam and thick cardboard box route were for the better functionally.

Build: Like the others so far, CCSToys’ Shin Getter 1 consists of a diecast frame with plastic pieces as a shell that make up the aesthetic. Everything is well put together, solid, and the paint/detailing is well done with no scuffing or scratching. There are LEDs implemented throughout its body with easy to access battery compartments (no screwdriver necessary) and easy to press buttons. The lights are bright and very good looking with none of the battery drain issues that Mazinger Zero had.

Accessories: Here’s a list of the accessories taken from the AmiAmi product listing;

The accessories on this one are amazing and I love all of the different looks you can achieve from them. The one part that stunk about my copy is that it didn’t come with the battery pack that included the pink LED for the beam effect. That was rectified with using a red LED that I had (seen in the pictures,) but it would have been nice to have seen how the pink looked. Outside of that the accessories are all just plain awesome and I love that some also utilize lights and whatnot to really accentuate them. It’s a feature you don’t really see on Super Robot product accesories. And while the base looks swank and works as a functional stand, I wish that it came with an adapter for the more generic Metal Build type stands out there due to them being a lot more functional without having to swap any parts out like toy do this one.

Articulation: It’s truly impressive just how much articulation their Shin Getter 1 has while being such a massive figure and equally as impressive that none of its accessories hinder any of this. Between the video and gallery you can see just how much it can do and the smooth joints actually make it fun to play and pose.

Overall Score: 9.5/10 – CCSToys really shows that they’re about continuous improvements when Shin Getter 1. I feel that this one takes the strong build quality of Gurren Lagann and the LED gimmicks of Mazinger Zero and takes both to another level. There’s really no area where this falters from the objective matters but I also understand where people may want a more anime-esque Shin Getter aesthetically. From my perspective though, this is definitely the ultimate Shin Getter figure to get post-Fewture Models. Great job to all of those involved in its creation.
