For the past couple of years, Action Toys has been doing a line of toys homaging characters from the “Machine Robo” anime series and now ups the game with the larger,
more high-end “DX” line starting with Bike Robo. In the video above I get into depth with the ins and outs of the piece but below I share some more of my thoughts as well as my gallery on this figure. Please check it all out and let me know what you think in the comments!

Presentation: I feel like the presentation in terms of packaging is pretty standard. A thick, cardboard box, with a graphic I feel is too darkened on the front as well as a couple of shots of the product on back. It’s fit well inside of the plastic shell so no fear of damage or things falling loose. The figure itself just plain looks pristine though with the high-gloss really shining through making the white parts in-particular really come off classy with a pearl-type of look.

Build: The DX Bike Robo is made up of strong plastics and diecast in the chest and “tail pipes” on the legs. It definitely feels as good and “high end” as it looks. The joints are nice and tight along with the figure in general having great balance in a lot of poses dependent on single-leg and whatnot.

Accessories: I like the accessories on this piece; two blast effects, three Cy-Kill faces, and “swap” parts for the face and hands to make it look more clean in its alt. motorcycle mode (which are definitely not “needed” for anything concerning the transformation or stability; purely looks.) I personally think that the Gobots animation is bad and the Cy-Kill character in particular isn’t an attractive one but I respect that in the U.S. in particular there’s more nostalgia for that series so I can understand why the alternate faces were included. For what it’s worth, the faces are spot-on the the cartoon and well-done.

Articulation: The articulation on Bike Robo is darned good. The video portion shows it all in motion but honestly there isn’t much this piece “can’t” do in terms of its range of motion. The only thing that I really wish it had was a bit more ankle tilt.

Overall Score: 8.0/10 – It’s pretty nice to see this kind of “love” thrown towards Machine Robo (no; not Gobots) in general let alone seeing such “high end” piece made in homage to one of the characters. You either like the design of Bike Robo in general or you don’t, but as a product this is a well-made, fantasticly designed piece made with nice materials and really seems to have been put through the motions in terms of quality-control. It’s definitely this series’ equivalent to the “Masterpiece” line of transformers in terms of look, build, and scale, and I’m really hoping to see more come of this DX series as I feel this is where Action Toys has hit their mark vs. the previously-released, smaller homages.
