DX9 has done it again for a completely new look with this add-on called D04 OP Armor Kit making Evasion Optimus looking like God Ginrai Godbomber or we know him as Powermaster Optimus Prime. This add-on kit gives the figure steroids giving him a flight pack, additional weapons, and a head sculpt same as the God Ginrai himself. He may not look like the same G1 counterpart with a weaponized trailer but the latter can go well as a representation of it.
The look and feel is close to FP plastic territory and it seems that it was made perfectly for the figure itself. It doesn’t take an hour or two to assemble and not much parts to take out. Be ready to bring out your precision screw driver kit as you have to remove the original head to install the God Ginrai head sculpt included in the kit. Take note that there are peg-holes that need some TLC when you connect them especially the smoke stacks and arm plates. The chest part also is a little scary to install as it is being holded by a clip that looks like it gonna break anytime. Transformation of the figure is straightforward by just taking out some of the add-on parts and clip them up on alt mode. The chrome covered chest plate has a high quality finish and perfectly coated. When it comes to detail this kit is a blast to look at. I can’t even imagine that they designed the kit to fit the whole figure considering the original Powermaster Prime has a combined trailer and weapon stack. Since then I always loved the look of the figure after the kit has been added. Playability with this kit is top notch considering some parts are only connected with a small peg-hole and also you can’t tell the look if its Evasion Optimus under the armor.
Even with the small flaws and issues, this kit itself is a winner even though by standards can’t compete with the original look of the character. Overall this is a superb add-on kit that gives homage to the God Ginrai we all know and love.
