Nostalgia has hit me big time with Knock Off Masterpiece Lambor

Available: Ebay

Price: Depending on the seller. $30 – $50 USD

Its been a while since I hit the review table but this time I’m hitting some Masterpiece Knock off figures starting with Lambor aka Sideswipe of the famous G1 genre. Sideswipe is a reckless but formidable warrior of the Autobots. His character defines him solely different from his brother Sunstreaker. He is likes to be that “one-man-army” guy that loves to play around and a straightforward thinker just to get that glorious victory he’s been seeking in any battle. So how does this knock off place itself on your collection? Let get to it then!

They said that it was almost identical with the original figure and the only thing that was lacking is the black lining on the headlights during alt mode. I say yeah! sure! ok! but boy I was surprised. It made me a Masterpiece purist but up till now I’m still looking for the original Lambor figure. This will take a while so, if a knock off is this good then the original is better and Lambor is that much of a collector piece. Knock off figures are really into a hype nowadays because of toys are getting costly and it really eats up that grocery budget (Ahem! My wife makes me do grocery budgets. :P ). So here comes knock off central China and they answered their need faster than some customer service providers out there. I know its a bad idea to buy bootleg toys and sell them but this is for review purposes only. So lets get back to the review shall we? I noticed the plastic quality is almost identical but it is on the soft side, I got a MP Grimlock and the plastic on that is Hasbro quality. You will definitely get what I’m saying if you’re a MP collector.

So the Lambor mold is definitely identical with some of those peg hole problems found on bootlegs. Bumper pegs during transformation is a bit off, it really needs a bit of sanding the hole but be careful not to sand too much. The weapon holes on the hands and the shoulders to hold the cannon are a bit loose but tolerable, and the legs are a bit loose either so better get your Pledge finish ready for some tightening. There are some hits and misses but what made my day definitely was the alt mode. Who would not love that transformation! I mean HELLO!!!!!!! This is a Countach! I grew up watching Cannonball Run and fell in love with the car. Those boy room posters of classic supercars my uncle had when I was young got me hooked with automobiles and the “Countach” is what a sex symbol look like car lovers during the 70’s. Having a toy like this one makes me feel nostalgic again. Thus, the photos that I took got me thinking of doing some “poster” look poses for the figure’s alt mode.

Surprisingly, the figure has some extras like those piledrivers and jackhammers that he has on the original figure and the shoulder cannon too! All identical! What more can you ask for. The price? Its a heck of a lot cheaper than the original thats for sure. But of course nothing beats the real thing. I would keep on looking for those Original MP figures. But for now this knock off does its job of satisfying my crave for a nostalgic figure.

Special Thanks to Aldrich Mendoza for this and for being a great friend. Its a small world after all :D .
