Following up with Bandai’s Damashii Epyon, it’s nice to review the Damashii version of his in-show rival Wing Zero! I’m not as much a fan of this design as Epyon in general, but toy-wise this is a great likeness with a ton of playability to it.

The likeness of this toy to the in-show character model is uncanny. The fine detailing of this molding is top notch with perfect choice in the paint hues. My favorite tiny detail of him are the smaller rocket boosters which can extend from underneath his shoulder pads for extra acceleration in flight. On the show, it makes complete sense because of the amount of detail standard for the Gundam animes, but to see things like that thrown into a toy under 6″ is amazing.
Like Epyon, and as I will be doing throughout with these Gundam figures, I consider the backpack, while removable, to be a part of the figure itself rather than an accessory. The wing pack comes with a great amount of articulation and options in terms of wing and booster placement.
The articulation on this is magnificent, and it’s able to maintain balance even with the wings extended out. It really is a great job of engineering with this figure’s poseability.

Pictured below are all of the accessories that come with this figure. On the left side, we have the different hand variations, including a double-handed set for when the two blasters are combined to form one big blaster. beneath those hands, there is a peg that goes into the back of his Wingpack to connect to a stand for flight posing.
In the middle, we have his shield in between his two blasters. The shield also acts as the cockpit area when he transforms into a jet. Underneath the shield are two blasters which peg in on either side of his neck for more artillery.
On the right hand side, there are two legs and a waist piece to swap out for more cohesiveness when he is transformed. The legs have rocket boosters in place of feet, and the waist is static to keep from his abdomen area bending downwards in jet mode.

His transformation is very simple. You pretty much swap out the parts mentioned in the accessories section of this review, straighten him out, pop the shield on top of him, and you’re done. I’m not a huge fan of parts-forming transformations, but this one is so quick that I’m giving it a pass.

His jet mode is nice, and accurate. enough of the robot remains hidden to make it a “believable” jet.

This toy restores my faith in all of the Damashii Gundam items I have on the way. A great mold in itself with some solid engineering behind it makes it one that I’d recommend to anyone.
Overall Score: 8.5/10
