In nearly 7 years of Super Robot collecting, one I’d never thought I’d see was the Wave Corporation W.H.A.M. (Wave High Action Model) Panzer World Galient Tetsukyojin. An homage to the Galient Tetsukyojin in the Panzer World Galient OVA, this is the version that most collectors have revered as the definitive collectible for this robot. Last week that changed and thanks to an overseas friend I was able to obtain one.

Presentation: The box on this is pretty thick and sturdy with the figure and accessories encased in a dual-layered styrofoam clamshell.

Build: The Wave W.H.A.M. Tetsukyojin piece is a fairly hefty feeling figure; it’s certainly not light but not too heavy to feel comfortable handling… it’s literally “just right.” It’s a diecast piece with the majority of the diecast being within the inner frame and outer portions of the lower legs. The placement is strategic and shows in the joints being stable even after a decade. The paint job and applications are wonderful and the fine details like panel lining/wash really make this piece “pop,” however as much as I enjoy the matte finish there should have been a coating applied to prevent paint rub which happens at even the slightest touching of parts.

Accessories: The W.H.A.M. Galient Tetsukyojin comes with an assortment of hands as well as a sword and shield (as shown/used in show.) There are closed fist, fist that are open enough to hold weapons, and open hands. The sword is awesome; holds well and the storage inside of the shield is top notch, however the shield is a bit trickey to get him to hold around the forearm gauntlets Galient Tetsukyjoin has and even though the shield isn’t heavy (all accessories are plastic,) the arms still have some issues holding it up. It’s really mind boggling considering that the joints feel well otherwise and the shield truly has no weight to it.

Articulation: For a 2009 release, this Galient Tetsukyojin has been given very modernized articulation points in the sense that it would be acceptable and fairly impressive even by today’s standards. However, the articulation is hindered by the armor on this piece and unfortunately even though it has the articulation points it definitely can’t achieve the extreme engineering of something like a Sentinel product but definitely can achieve some nice poses for what it’s worth.

Overall Score: 8.5/10 – Awesome piece and well ahead of its time but in terms of overall fit and finish as much as I love having obtained it I can’t rank it in that 9-10 range due to things like the articulation being a bit limited and paint rub

Check out a few pictures of these in the gallery, and even though this is long sold out, definitely keep an eye out for new iterations of this popular bot!
