So Fansproject’s latest release in the Function(x) line has been Browning II. this homage to Highbrow really took me by surprise in that I didn’t think too much of it from previous pictures but really ended up taking to it aesthetically. the sculpt is just awesome, the colors are very vibrant, and ti’s probably the most poseablt of this toyline to date. Although the blasters it comes with aren’t the standard 5mm sized handles, they are really neat looking and the shoulder storage looks nice as well. My biggest nitpick about this piece would be the use of ratchet joints in the hips and knees. Although these aren’t too obtrusive, I prefer a more free range of movement.

A simple, and fun transformation lead to a pretty cool alt. mode. I’m no helicopter expert but in general I like designs with multiple rotors so something like this takes me more than the average. It gives me a very old school, schmup-video game-style feel, especially with the two rotary guns on the wings and blaster on front. The clear, red plastic on the cockpit cover really pops, and the headmaster fits in well. It’s definitely a unique alt. mode and aesthetically pleasing.

Overall Score: 8.0/10 – The Fansproject Function X line is one that has definitely had its hiccups. From an inconsistent release schedule, to repaints, to even Code looking like it’s from a different toy line, it just feels like a product line that really hasn’t given itself a fair shot at really taking off. With that, it’s good to see a very strong release in Browning II, because this really is right next to Quad U as my favorites in this line. I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s next.
