Iron Factory shows absolute dominance in terms of design and quality with IF EX-55 Surfing Arrow. This homage to the Transformers G1 “minibot” Seaspray is so good that it almost feels like the company is plain “flexing.” It really delivers on all fronts and it was a real treat to review. Check out my thoughts and gallery here and please leave your thoughts in the comments as well.

Presentation: The packaging is extremely standard with the same style of open-faced box and graphics as all of the other Iron Factory figures which is a great thing. The figure comes in robot mode packed well inside of its plastic clamshell inside.

Build: Per company standard, Surfing Arrow is an entirely plastic piece. It’s well put together and engineered with the joints and hinges alll having the right amount of tightness to them. I love that they designed things like the shoulder panels and Thrust Fans to move out of the way and not block nthe figure’s articulation.

Accessories: Surfing Arrow comes with a harpoon-styled blaster and a variety of hands. The blaster stores in alt mode becoming its front end and the alternate hands at a nice dynamic to this figure.

Articulation: This is on the higher end of articulation for Iron Factory’s pieces in general and definitely the most articulated for their “smaller” items. From ab crunch to double joints, Surfing Arrow really shows off articulation that you don’t even regularly see in figures at a larger scale. Here’s hoping that this becomes a standard because it’s really cool.

Overall Score: 9.5/10 – Iron Factory really knocked it out of the park with Surfing Arrow. Both aesthetically and engineering-wise I think that this is a great representation of where the company has come to with their development. Outside of the hands popping off a bit easier than I’d like while maneuvering I really have no complaints about this piece. Durging Arrow is one that I definitely recommend.
