Sentinel managed to make the great even better with these upgrade parts for their recent Getter Devolution Getter 1 release.

With the end-of-year release of the Riobot Getter Devolution Getter 1, Sentinel co-released a separate expansion kit labeled the Upgrade Parts Set to give buyers the option of displaying it in its mst current Manga form. Even though the Getter Devolution Getter 1 looks great in its own right, these additional parts really take it to another level and give it a much different feel. This article gives you the full breakdown as well as a gallery so take some time, check it out, and let me know what you think.
Presentation: The box is a straightforward, thicker cardboard one with pictures and graphics pertaining to the Devolution Getter 1 Upgrade Parts Set throughout. One thing I noticed though is that everything is in monochrome (black and white) which threw me back to the Metamor-Force Real-Colored versions of Dancouga and Black Wing. I know that like those this was a limited release so maybe it pertains to that? It’s a nice look and gives a more special feel to the item. As for the items themselves, they’re securely packed into the plastic clamshell.
Build: Outside of the metal pole for the giant axe, these are all plastic pieces which is great because of the lighter weight being easier for the wings to handle and stay in position. Everything fits, moves, and stays very well. It’s an overall quality set of parts to go in line with a quality release in the Getter Devolution Getter 1 itself.
Accessories: This release as a whole is an accessory set including wings, a tail, energized spikes for his forearm gauntlets, and a large axe (along with the accompanying hands) that convert Devolution Getter 1 its most current form in the ongoing manga.
Articulation: The tail has multiple points of articulation throughout each smaller section of it and it’s so cool to see how it twists and turns while staying in place no matter how you bend it. The wings as a while can move in and out as well as having a swivel that rotates them back and forth. The individual wings have some limited movement in some of the sections but I do wish that they could be rotated upwards and downwards as well while out to the sides.
Overall Score: 10/10 – Sentinel really made sure to match the high quality of their Getter Devolution Getter 1 with these upgrade parts so in my opinion it deserves the same score. If I were able to rate the toy with the upgrade parts itself I’d honestly take it from a 10 to an 11/10. It looks that good all put together and things like just how well he can hold up that giant axe with either one or both arms really shows just how well made the piece is. Knowing that these aren’t scheduled for a re release, second-hand sellers have really raised the second-hand pricing to almost quadruple the retail and why I don’t think that they hold THAT kind of value I can say that anyone who has gotten these will be anything but disappointed. Sentinel really saved the best for last in 2018.
