This upgrade kit from DMY Studios has been a long time coming and admittedly I’d lost a lot of excitement for it over time as Intimidator was a combiner from 2013 that wasn’t exactly met with high praise due to a nagging transformation scheme for it’s main member, Diesel. Even with that bias, I have to say that I was impressed with this kit. The instructions look a bit daunting but when you look through them you see that it’s because they’re pretty deep in terms of steps (Seriously… screwing screws BACK in is another, pictured step.) It took me a good 20 minutes to get it all put together and it does a pretty good job of spicing up the look of these, especially in Down Force who almost comes off like a new toy!

I’m a bit let down about the amount of parts forming that goes on with parts, but they also aren’t things that I can see an imediate resolution to. This is also a bit daunting due to the fact that some of the pegs, like the weapon stoarage ones on the bicep gap-fillers are not only thin, but the weapons peg on very tight. I actually broke one of the pegs off pulling a weapon off but luckily it was the wrong colored gap-filler (It comes with both black and gray color options for pieces.) Just be careful.

It’s definitely a solid kit that holds well, but I do wonder if it’s just plain late to the dance. As much as I’d love to see this do great, especially for G.I. Eddie who’s a fantastic designer and a GREAT GUY, Intimidator just isn’t something I see being spoken about in 2015.

Overall Score: 7.0/10
