Fresh off of the production line is a sample of Bellerapon: The mecha of pilot Cameron Knox who’s the primary hero of the “Armarauders” comic books. At 9″ from head-to-toe and nice bits of diecast spread throughout, this toy isn’t only insanely accurate to its comic incarnation, but feels sturdy as all get out. Double jointed elbows and knees on top of multiple other tidbits like ab crunch give this toy about as much poseability as any toy I’ve played with in general. It’s also nice to see the bits like the shoulder missile pods can be moved in order to make sure that they don’t hinder movement. There are many intuitive design notions like this that show a dedication to testing and general mind to people like me who love posing their figures.
You also get quite a bit in terms of accessories. multiple weapons that can either be held or clipped into one of the many clip joints throughout him for alternate looks and general storage. He also comes with a base that doubles as a very nice flight stand. Overall, it’s a very complete feeling package.
He does come with his pilot, Cameron Knox. At just under 2″, this figure not only features the poseability of figures double its size, but a flight pack with removable blasters attached to it. It’s fantastic to see such detail put into something that most toys would consider an afterthought. I also think that putting him inside of the Bellerophon cockpit is one of the most cool gimmicks I’ve seen on a toy in some time. Check it out in the video: the engineering there is outstanding.
This toy is AWESOME! When preorders go up in March, get in on this a.s.a.p. because it’s a hot item at a steal of a price that will sell out quick. Literally the only thing keeping this from being a perfect 10 score is the fact that it is a test sample and there were issues with the tightness of joints that I can’t 100% guarantee being fixed with the final, production versions. And even with those issues, this is my toy of 2015 so far. This line is going to be incredible.
Overall Score: 9.0/10
