The Blaster homage I’ve been waiting for!

WHERE TO BUY – TFSOURCE
MegaSteel’s first release is a little weird, as it’s their figure labeled “03” in the series, but I’m glad that they did because the Transformers G1 character “Blaster” is one that was very mysteriously untouched until recently by companies (Hasbro included). If you’re a “Classics” collector, then this figure definitely delivers in terms of size, aesthetic, and playability. The plastic quality is fantastic, and the diecast pieces are a nice touch while not placed in areas that will weight down and eventually degrade the rest of the figure. It also comes with the options of both a cartoon and G1-Toy (Marvel Comics look with silver painting) heads, both of which look great.
Another great touch is the amount of 5mm pegs throughout his upper body that make for great interchanging with other figures in terms of weapons as well as a multitude of different “looks” for the figure itself. As you can see in the pictures, even the pieces on his back come off to become blasters: it’s a LOT of fun!
Honestly, the only area that I really have any qualms with is the choice of coloring here. Rather than the traditional red that we see Blaster colored with, the hue used is a bit more orange. Also, the coloring on the limbs have siginificantly different shades of gray between the limbs themselves and the pieces of plastic that are the joints. Neither of these would be too big of a deal on their own, but put together, it makes for an overall “issue” with color selection that stands out and really keeps this piece from being scored a 9 or a 10.
In the end, this is a fantastic Blaster homage that I would recommend.
Overall Score: 8.0/10
