“Who the hell do you think I am!?!” – That’s right, it’s time to review Sentinel Riobot’s Gurren Lagann! Impressive from top to bottom, this is one that’s hard to find a place for on my shelf simply because I keep finding myself taking it off to mess around with!

This toy features an insane likeness to the cartoon. Although I’ll get more into the poseability in the appropriate section, it’s awesome to see that the amount of poseability doesn’t detract from it’s look due to a great job of covering exposed joints.

Speaking of detail, one of the nicest parts about this figure is the fact that Gurren’s eyes have full range of motion and are controlled by the head of Lagann being turned or the neck moved back and forth. It’s a bit creepy, but a whole lot of awesome!

Gurren Lagann

This toy features out of this world poseability. If it were able to implement waist/chest swivel between the two halves of Gurren’s mouth, I would have no problem labeling the articulation as “perfect”. Even so, his toy even go as far as providing double joints in the elbows and knees to ensure that you can pose him damned near however you want.

A variety of hands, removable glasses for Lagann, and a variety of drill accessories let you pierce the heavens in a variety of ways! However, I do wish that it came with removable drill bits for points on his body to be able to represent the “full drillized” form featured in the cartoon. Even without, this thing is stacked with useful accessories.

My favorite accessories by far are the full Wing Pack and stand to give him “in flight” poses. The stand is not only sturdy, but comes with a nice variety of pieces to vary his positioning on it.

It’s easy to see why people are so willing to use this as their “definitive” Gurren Lagann figure. The size is a fantastic fit with other Japanese robot collections like Bandai Tamashii’s Soul of and Super Robot Chogokins, and the amount of accessories that it comes with is a number normally reserved to “premium” versions of characters at a much higher price point. I’d highly recommend this one.

Overall Score: 9.0/10
