ShapeShift brings us another wave of legends-classed figures with their Microlegion series; the first two of which being SS01 Sky Snake and SS02 Heavy Metal homaging Starscream and Ironhide respectively. Each homeages the High Moon Studios “Cybertron” game series in terms of aesthetics and does a fantastic job. They feature metallic paints rather than colored plastic (which is well coated/protected, but I do fear of chipping issues in the future) and poseability that’s a step in between Dx9 and Iron Factory (With IF being the high-end.) They also come with game-accurate weaponry. Overall, they’re nice looking and “Fun” to play around with in their robot modes.
The transformations on each are simple with game-accurate alt. modes. I especially love that Heavy Metal has rolling wheels!
The bar continues to be set for legends-classed figures in the third-party Transformers toy market. So much so, that I’m beginning to wonder if they’ll eventually replace the classics line with the current shift towards Masterpiece scaling as well? Only time will tell.
