Bandai just started off yet another one of their Megaman toylines with the Giga Armor Series Megaman X. This is a “Chogokin” (Diecast) piece whose toyline revolves around armor which can be removed (unknown yet if the armor pieces can be interchanged between figures.) Megaman also comes with an updated rendition of his robotic dog Rush (labeled “Rush JAGD”) which can transform with the help of the included armor pieces into a Ride Chaser. It’s definitely an interesting piece so check out the in-depth video above as well as my thoughts on it and gallery below. As always, let me know what you think in the comments.

Overall Score: 7.0/10 – Come on, Bandai! This Giga Armor Megaman X is one of the best best looking Megaman X toys I’ve personally seen and played with. The Megaman figure itself is extremely well-made and for the price it’s an extremely good deal when considering what all is included. The piece is great looking, diecast, well articulated, and even comes with an updated Rush that transforms into a ride chaser! Something also really has to be said for the “built-in” busters on each arm that can transform from the regular hands with no part-swapping. It really is a “smartly” engineered piece on top of being fun. The biggest problem in this video is what’s gone over in-depth in the video and that’s the fact that the armor pieces just plain do not stay tabbed in well during armored mode. It’s bad and even worse in the fact that it’s the major selling point of this figure and the toyline itself. On top of that, the piece becomes significantly less functional with the armor on. On a more “nitpicky” level, I would have also liked to have seen more hands and faces included. Overall this is a solid piece but when the major gimmick that the line is marketed under is underwhelming then it’s hard to give this a higher score. I’m hoping that this aspect is given a much better look on the products going forward because these have a lot of potential and I just plain want to see a “high end” Megaman toyline make it out of that now stereotypical cycle of only Megaman variants and then dying out before reaching to other characters. Give me Sigma, Vile, Storm Eagle, etc. etc..
