Fans Hobby kicks off their Master Builders (Masterpiece-scaled) 3rd-Party Transformers toyline with MB-01 Archenemy. This homage to the Transformers Robots in Disguise/Car Robots Scourge/Nemesis Convoy not only looks good on its own but also next to existing Hasbro/Takara Masterpiece products. In the video review I go over everything from the articulation to the transformation and even have comparisons so there’s not too much I can add in this written review as it’s a pretty simplistic piece with a single accessory in its sword (which is awesome.) An additional oil tanker trailer and blaster set will be coming for it at a later time.
Overall Score: 7.0/10 – Fans Hobby’s debut with the Master Builder series was a strong one. Archenemy carries a fantastic look, decent articulation, and a simplicity in its transformation that will surely win people over. On the other hand, I feel that its simplicity may also be a turnoff in the since that there could have been some additional things like articulated fingers and double-jointed elbows and knees that could have taken this figure to another level. As-is however, its a solid piece and I think that those who buy it will have fun. It’s also refreshing to see another company going for Masterpiece items outside of the G1 bubble of main cast characters.
