Iron Factory’s latest isn’t just one of their best offerings but one of the best Legends-classed figures ever made. Cygnus is a must have, and checking the review after the jump will definitely show you why.

Iron Factory really did something special with their latest release in IF EX-30 Cygnus. This Legends-scaled homage to the Transformers character Jetfire (Skyfire) really knocks it out on every level. Definitely check out the video above as well as my thoughts and gallery below and let me know what you think in the comments!

Presentation: Mine was a production sample sent for review so I cannot comment on the box (In seeing production pictures though, it looks to be pretty standard and similar to the Iron Factory Wings of Tyrant that recently came out.) The figure however is superb with magnificent coloring and color applications. The extra-fine detailing on the unmasked face is especially impressive.

Build: Per Iron Factory Standard, Cygnus is an entirely plastic piece sporting a much more “finished” look to the plastic than a lot of previous releases. This really makes the white of it shine (literally) and makes it even more of a centerpiece amongst other Iron Factory figures. The joints and tolerances on this piece are flawless and it’s a real treat to play with and transform.

Accessories: Cygnus comes with both the masked and unmasked Skyfire/Jetfire heads, a variety of hands, and his blaster. He also comes with a stand and adapter for his alt mode to be held onto it. It should also be noted that he’s a very modular figure and parts of it like the backpack, arm blasters, and fins come off and use 5 mm pegs so that they can be swapped out with other “armor” pieces from figures like Ultimate Commander (Stormbringer Optmus Prime) as shown in the gallery.

Articulation: Cygnus is one where I highly recommend that you watch the video portion just to see the articulation aspect “in motion” because this aspect of the toy is really incredible. From butterflying shoulders to double-jointed elbows/knees to ab crunching, Cygnus actually meets a level of articulation I’ve never seen on a Legends scaled figure and is honestly on par with the esteemed MakeToys Cross-Dimension figures. Buttery smooth joints and absolutely no tolerance issues really make it a joy to play with too. In fact, I’m taking breaks from writing this just to fiddle around with it.

Overall Score: 9.5/10 – Iron Factory really knocked it out of the park with this one. I feel like from it’s fit and finish to its engineering, Cygnus is a shining example of what a culmination of improvements and innovations looks like and is hands-down one of the finest figures at a Legends scale that I’ve ever seen. Even though there are some Iron Factory pieces that I have a bit more attachment to like hte War Giant Blasters or Racing Bros, Cygnus is easily the one that I’d recommend to anyone looking for the best example of what Iron Factory has to offer. I’m floored.

Check out the gallery and even and if you’re interested in purchasing one of your own, order from TFSource or The Chosen Prime!
