Bandai Tamashii continues on with their incredible “Metal Build” line of mostly Gundam toys with the 00 Seven Sword/G. This is actually the third version of the “00” Gundam (from the “Mobile Suit Gundam 00” anime) that’s been released under this line. The first was the 00 Seven Sword which came with pieces to convert it into its regular 00 Gundam Second Sword. A bit later, there was a Raiser Upgrade kit for it which came with the Raiser plane that could combine with the 00 Gundam to form the 00 Raiser. And then there was a 00 Raiser combined set which came with the Gundam 00 (no conversion parts to become Seven Sword,) and the Raiser plain. What differs the 00 Seven Sword/G from the original Seven Sword release is the inclusion of the GN Sword II Blaster weapon which looks especially awesome balancing out the GN Buster Sword II when both items are attached to the shoulders.

The build quality of Seven Sword/G is consistent with the rest of the Metal Build line in having a strong, plastic shell covering up a nice and hefty feeling die-cast frame. paint application and tampoing is absolute perfection to the point where you’ll just stop and stare out the intricacies of it. It’s so well done that it’s admirable. The articulation is absolutely fantastic, and the die-cast joints really feel nice and tight while posing. I will say that it’s overall such a sturdy feeling piece that it comes off a lot larger than it actually is as it has the quality of larger, high-end toy lines like Soul of Chogokin.

The accessories are exactly what you’d expect for Seven Sword/G and are pictured with written listings in the gallery.

The biggest niggles that I have with Seven Sword/G are the GN long and short swords not holding in as well as they should when pegged into his side skirts and his grip hands not holding the GN Sword blaster and buster sword as well as they should. I know that the hands are relatively small but I wish there was something additional on the two larger swords to peg into its palms to add some extra support.

Overall Score: 8.5/10 – Stuff like Bandai’s Metal Build Gundam line is why I left collecting retail lines behind some time ago to use the money for more high-end stuff, and the 00 Seven Sword/G is a great representation of it. Amazing sculpt, awesome build/feel, insanely articulated, and accessories for days. It’s neat they not only released this iteration of 7 swords with the GN Rifle to complete his weapon set, but the Rifle itself was also put for sale as a Tamashii web exclusive for previous 00 Seven Sword owners that wanted to complete theirs without buying a whole other set. For me, the 00 Gundam is one of my all-time favorite Gundam suits but I think that any collector of nice mecha pieces will enjoy this. The 00 Seven Sword/G gets a strong recommendation from me.
