MakeToys continues its CityBot Series with Pandinus which is an homage to the Transformers character “Scorponok”. This beast of a figure comes in at 14″ tall and almost 7.5 pounds so this triple changing toy is not only big but heavy. Once you get past his imposing features and start playing with it, I think the next thing that will pop out to most people is the insanely strong ratchet joints. The figure literally recoils at how tight some of them are and it’s a very reassuring feeling that you’re going to want to have because this thing in INSANELY poseable. Doing things like the classic “Iron Man” pose with Pandinus is just a plain-old treat. I do have to note that the headmaster is also well-done and a nice looking piece in its own right. It even has a minature scorpion alt. mode of its own.

One of his alt. mode is the most notable one in the Scorpion mode. One thing that I wish it carried over from the G1 Scorponok toy was the moving scorpion legs, but it admittedly isn’t feasible with the design of the toy. It does have wheels on the bottom, but mine were fairly tight so be forewarned if attempting to roll it across sensitve surfaces until yours loosen up.

The temple mode has really grown on me to the point where it’s my favorite of the alt. modes. There’s something about the tunnel way and how it leads up into that dark void that gives a nice, eerie vibe. The height of it at the tail end is also insanely imposing. It makes for a great display. I also enjoy that it’s different from the standard “city” mode and gives a setting that comes off more villainous instead.

Overall Score: 9.0/10 – Pandinus is a great representation of Scorponok aesthetically and the quality/engineering is just phenomenal in terms of how well it’s designed to be playable at its massive size. It’s crazy and I recommend anyone who gets the opportunity to see it and mess around with it in person to do so..
