Mastermind Creations presents to us their homage to Nova Prime in Seraphicus Prominon. Seraphicus definitely a different take on the character with a “cyber-knight” flare, and I think that it succeeds in terms of presentation. The video portion of this does do a good job of going over the figure and its gimmicks and the pictures should handle getting a closer look. Outside of that, this one is pretty straight forward without too much more too expand on. Even though I’d have preferred a Nova Prime more slavish to the canon design, this is a well-done piece with my only problem really being that the bicep covers in armored mode inhibit the arm swivel.
I would definitely like to take a moment to hit on the power cradle, however. The trailer itself is extremely nice and adds quite a bit to the Seraphicus alt. mode in that it makes it look/feel more “complete.” The transformation into the armor station is also very smooth with a nice presentation once transformed. Even as an armor rack, it has a lot of presence and adds to a display next to the Seraphicus core bot. It’s a very neat a “different” approach to armor for a figure where we’d normally see random pieces just pop off of the trailer and onto the figure. Kudos to Cassy Sark for the creativity here.
Overall Score: 7.5/10 – Even though I feel the Seraphicus core bot is where this really shines, the optional upgrades are a nice touch and do a nice way to show an “evolution” of the character. I just wish that those bicep covers didn’t hinder the swiveling of the arms. I’m hoping that the “Nemesis” version of this shown in renders some time back eventually makes it to physical form.
