Last December Sentinel released an Upgrade Parts Set for its Devolution Getter 1 figure. This featured wings and green forearm spikes with extended lengths to represent the mecha’s final and most powerful form in the “Getter Devolution” Manga as well as a gigantic axe. They’ve recently released a similar set for their non-canon Devolution Black Getter figure and it’s pretty fantastic. Check out the video above to see it in action as well as my written breakdown and gallery below and let me know what you think in the comments.

Presentation: The box is the same styling as the previously reviewed Sentinel Getter Devolution Getter 1 Upgrade Parts Set but of course featuring the Black Getter on the box instead of the Getter 1.

Build: this kit is comprised of entirely plastic parts made of strong materials with excellent paint application. The finish on the parts is also well done and I don’t feel danger of things like paint chips or breakages during play.

Accessories: The War Machine Mk. III comes with a good amount of accessories:

– One (1) pairs of hands:
– One (1) pair of fists
– One (1) giant axe.
– One (1) set of wings

These serve a very straightforward purpose and do it well.I’m extremely glad that they didn’t go with diecast on the axe since it’s easier on the joints of the figure holding it long term while still looking fantastic. The wings have a good amount of articulation points but I really feel like they would have benefited from an additional swivel to let them rotate up and down while swung inward.

Articulation: The articulation points are pretty standard for the Hot Toys diecast armors with a nice amount of range for movement. The amount of forward and back swing that he can get in his abdominal area when extended is particularly impressive.

Overall Score: 9.0/10The main goal of these upgrade parts is to make the Black Getter look even more cool which it does in spades. They even priced this significantly less than the upgrade set for the regular (red) colored Getter 1 upgrades seeing that it comes with less. Like the regular upgrade set though my only complaint is that the wing don’t have up and down swivel while swung inwards. Even though I can understand them being locked to that upward position from both a manga-accurate and durability standpoint it’d be a nice additional point of articulation to give not only different options aesthetically but spatially as well.

Check out the gallery below, even though the Hot Toys diecast War Machine Mk II is sold out keep an eye on Sideshow Collectibles for all of their latest releases.
