Nova Prime is a Transformers character that I admittedly no very little about as a character but have multiple toys of because he’s just gorgeous. So when one of my favorite 3rd-Party Transformers companies in Iron Factory took it on it was a given that I had to jump on it. Steel Lucifer is a really pretty retool of the previously-released Ultimate Commander but still carries issues that plagued that release. Check out the video above as well as my thoughts and gallery below.

Presentation: Steel Lucifer comes in a very standard Iron Factory box in terms of make and graphics. It comes enclosed the plastic clamshell in its robot mode.

Build: Steel Lucifer is a made from very strong plastics but is marred by the build quality itself. Like Ultimate Commander it has a number of joints that are just plain too tight as well as things like pegs that aren’t molded to fit into their female ends properly and the like. Since Ultimate Commander, Iron Factory has improved tenfold on these sorts of issues and it’s kind of unfortunate to be reminded of them.

Accessories: Considering that this is a piece consisting of a trailer that turns into armor the accessories are a plenty by piece-count but his weapons are two blasters, a sword, and an axe. The two blasters and sword/axe combine with each other two form a larger rifle and giant sword respectively. The sword and axe in particular just just beautiful with the clear blue plastic used on the blades.

Articulation: Steel Lucifer’s articulation is certainly not “bad” but very baseline by current Iron Factory standards. Nothing extra in terms of double joints, ab crunch, etc., and as hit on in the Build section some joints are just really hard to move in general. Steel Lucifer is just not a fun piece to mess with.

Overall Score: 6.0/10 – Steel Lucifer is a beautiful display piece but really indicative of a lot of past flaws from the company. It’s great to have a Legends-scaled Nova Prime but at the same time there’s a lot of playability that just isn’t there with this release compared to other offerings from Iron Factory; particularly newer ones.
