MakeToys keeps a good thing going good with MTCD-04 Divine Shooter. The latest addition to their coveted Cross-Dimension line and their homage to the “GodBomber” mecha from Transformers: Masterforce gives the design a very cool, Super-Robot appeal and maintains the more advanced level of articulation. Check out the video(s) above as well as my written thoughts and gallery below and let me know what you think in the comments.

Presentation: The boxes for the Cross Dimension products are just plain cool and I think that MakeToys in general has some of the best box designs in the market. The follows in line with the graphical design of the rest of the line and the box itself is pretty sturdy. The figure is placed well into the plastic clamshell and I didn’t see anywhere to where parts can come broken due to the packaging.

Build: Divine Shooter is an entirely plastic piece and the materials used are pretty good in terms of general density and feel. I know there are people who really don’t like the “swirly” gray plastic used on this and other products but on a personal level I really like it because it’s akin to a marble texture and unique. Overall it’s well built but the ankles on mine (a production piece) were really point to the point of not being able to get full tilt which is detrimental to balance on top of making a loud sqeaking noise when turning was attempted. However, a few drops of shock oil and working the tilts back and forth for a few minutes completely alleviated the issue and made the product a lot more fun to play with. The one area that I wish was a bit stronger is the single-pin ab crunch. The balancing towards the back because of the wings and chest armor being on its backside make that very hard to keep positioned without real support.

Accessories: In a sense, Divine itself is an accessory since a main function is becoming an armor for Thunder Manus, but the parts that can be removed and used for Divine Shooter itself in robot and trailer modes are two Blasters and a large shoulder canon which can be mounted on either side (there is a cap to cover the unused shoulder as well.) The shoulder cannon also has a removable sword which can be handled by Divine Shooter and any of the other Cross Dimension releases so far. These accessories are the same that came with Thunder Manus and its own trailer.

Articulation: Divine Shooter keeps in line with the more extreme articulation styling of the rest of the line and it’s cool to see a mecha that’s essentially used as a side-piece and upgrade in the series and previous toy forms able to move just as well as the rest of the line. It really makes its value as a standalone piece higher.

Overall Score: 6.5/10 – Divine Shooter is one that definitely gets the job done but it’s hard for me to give a reason that you absolutely **must** purchase this and use the over the armor that came with Thunder Manus. However as a standalone God Bomber figure, I feel that it’s the best one ever made. I just wish that the robot mode was given a bit more priority because it’s one of those pieces where it has all of the makings to be phenomenal but some issues here or there take it down to decent.
