In my latest review, I take a look at Fansproject’s latest additions to it’s “Warbot” line, Revolver, Riftshot and Recoiler! Fansproject’s really done a good job with creating it’s “Wreckers” for it’s image of the Transformers Universe so far.

In the “Warbot” storyline, Defender (Springer) lost his allies Revolver (Roadbuster), Riftshot, and Recoiler (No known Transformers homage) in battle with Nega Defender (A red-colored Springer clone). In danger himself, Warbot was saved by Steel (Original character by Fansproject) and Assaulter (Broadside). Steel was able to save/revive Revolver, Riftshot, and Recoiler with “Core-R” technology, which evolved them into smaller robots able to use their pre-existing bodies as exo-suits and vehicles.

The three toys are the same molding with Revolver having it’s unique, “Roadbuster” color scheme and head while Riftshot and Recoiler share a color scheme but posses their own, unique heads and decaling. They each have unique weapons, but RiftShot and Recoiler come with upgrade parts that can be used on any of the three, but are specifically to make Revolver into a more traditional “beefed up” Roadbuster homage in both robot and alt. modes.

As stated above, Revolver is Fansproject’s homage to the Transformers character “Roadbuster”. Their imagination definitely gives him their signature anime/manga tone, but there’s no doubting who the figure is a tribute to, and it looks fantastic. At about 7″, it fits in well with your classics collection (Voyager-sized), and the bright Orange and forrest-Green deco really makes him stand out in a group of figures.

Since they are “Core” figures, they are like Steel Core in that they come with Smaller figures who fold up to fit on areas of the larger robot bodies. Although they each have their own detailing, the smaller bots all have the same basic mold and transformation so that they are all interchangeable with each other in connecting to whichever Core-R body you’d like.

Also, Since they all share the same mold, Revolver’s Cybertronian jeep alt. mode is the standard for all three.

RiftShot and Recoiler both seem to be named in reference to their weapons. RiftShot coincidentally comes with a pair of large hands and a “Thor-like” hammer to wield with them. The top of the hammer can also be split in half and worn as cluster missile launchers behind his shoulders.

Recoiler comes with an upgrade to the legs which makes them thicker and increases whichever figure’s height from 7 to 7.25″. He also has a Sniper rifle that recoils (ding!) on top of the standard two pistols that each of these three figures comes with. I like that his head sculpt has a visor that flips down similar to Dynames Gundam from the “Gundam 00” series, who also happened to be a robot specialized in long-ranged, sniper shooting.

You can use the hand and feet upgrades that come with RiftShot and Recoiler on any of the three figures in this review, however their colors are made to match Revolver, and give him specifically the more beefed-up, traditional Roadbuster look. I love that the upgrades can be used in both robot and alt. modes and all of the various weapon combinations and storage points for those weapons throughout these figures is just plain fun!

A lot of times, it’d be overkill to get one mold three times in such fast succession, but the differences to each version and upgrades kits make these three more than tolerable, and almost a “must have them all” if you plan on buying one of them.

With that, it brings me to my main “gripe” about these figures. Revolver was around $80-$90+ shipping depending on where you got it from, but RiftShot and Recoiler were sold as a two pack only through FansprojectCore.com exclusively at towards $200 plus shipping. I understand that they came with the upgrades, but $300 is a tough pill to swallow for fans that simply want a nice, Voyager “Roadbuster” in their classics collection and don’t have any interest in the additional two characters.

Overall Score: 8.0/10
