Fewture Models gives us a fantastic rendition of a lesser known anime mecha with Juohmaru! The action figure sized hero of “Plawres Sanshiro” gets a fantastic homage here.

Not only is the likeness dead-on with very cartoon-like panel lining, but at 9.5″ tall, it’s also an impressively large figure as well. Besides the kneecaps and hands, the outside of this figure is all diecast: INCLUDING THE FACE! This makes the paint job even more impressive knowing that there aren’t areas where it’s simply colored plastic, and done so flawlessly.

The articulation on this is nice, minus some limitation in the outward swing of the shoulders due to the shoulder pads blocking. It’s FULL of ratchet joints, even in the bicep swivel, which ratchets so tight that it’s literally scary in that I feel like I’m going to bust the ratchets and have a floppy mess some day: But until then, it’s nice to have that tightness.

Rather than trying to describe the accessories, I’m going to list them from the numbered picture below:

1.) Gi and Belt.

2.) Jet Pack.

3.) Leg Thrusters.

4.) Open Hands.

5.) Long Screw.

The Jet Pack and thrusters attach on with great ease yet hold very well onto the figure. Also note that these parts are note diecast although the jet pack is perfectly painted and coasted to match the painted diecast of the figure itself. The wings of the jet pack are also poseable.

Although I showed the longer screw in the accessories picture, he also comes with a short screw to hold in the plastic, triangular piece that acts as a “washer” to keep the heads of the screws from not scratching the finish of the figure (VERY well done, Fewture). The longer screw is used when the stand is attached to the backside of the figure.

The stand holds this figure up much better than the ones that came with my Mazinger and Getter releases from Fewture. The screw-in is fantastic, as there’s no clipping and potentially damaging the figure, while ultimately being more secure.

Being the first release of this figure, it comes with a Karate Gi (the second release comes with two “championship” styled belts instead). The Gi is real cloth, as is the black belt that’s included. It’s odd to me “dressing’ a mecha, but it’s a great and show-accurate piece to have included.

A solid release from Fewture both literally and metaphorically. Unlike the Mazinger and Getter figures, this one is NOT a reimagining from Taku Sato, which I love in that it let Fewture show it’s ability to bring to life a character straight from the TV screen. Good size and an incredible amount of diecast really seal off a figure that I’d recommend buying, especially since the secondary market is no where NEAR the increase in price like some of Fewture’s other releases!

Overall Score: 8.5/10
