MakeToys is back with this “Battle Tanker” styled upgrade for the Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus! As a huge fan of the original Battle Tanker for Reveal The Shield Optimus Prime, it’s great to revisit this armor again and have some nice new additions to it.

The Truck mode is much like the alternate mode on the original Battle Tanker. Really, the only difference is the new chestplate being put on the front hood. I like that they took advantage of the holes in the side of the Oil Tanker to use as a storage spot for Magnus’ blaster.
The Robot mode is fantastic, featuring a new head, chest, and shoulders from the original Battle Tanker version. The head also features two optional faces: A metallic one, and a clear one to represent the style of the original 2012 Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus that it’s upgrading.
Another nice addition is the piece that fits inside of the chest to give spacing and a longer look to the robot mode to better suit the new height with the armor. The previous rendition of Battle Tanker relied on friction to hold in place and keep the spacing rather than sitting flush. No worries though: This kit also comes with a spare chest insert for your original Battle Tanker!
Unfortuntely it doesn’t come with a big sword like the original Tanker, but it does come with a black rifle that resembles a newaged version of the original Generation 1 Ultra Magnus’ rifle. It’s fantastic, but I will say that you’ll need to do some work on the original toy’s joints to support the weight of both the armor and the new weapons.
The Oil Tanker still converts into an “exo-suit” with missile launchers like the original Battle Tanker’s did.
The Battle Tanker armor for Reveal The Shield Optimus Prime is honestly my favorite single-figure upgrade kit yet, so to see this made for redecos of the mold with additions/improvements is just a treat! I wouldn’t call it a “must have”, because the Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus isn’t a “bad” figure on it’s own, but you’re definitely not going to regret this purchase!
