Toys Alliance has released the first in its “Mega Action Series” in MAS-01 Optimus Prime. This non-transformable beast of a G2 Prime is a whopping 18″ tall with an insane amount of articulation and light up eyes/matrix (LR44 batteries not included.) Optimus Prime’s one and only accessory in this release is his iconic Ion Blaster who’s size is also impressive. The display presence on this alone is something I’m sure will be enough to bring a lot of people on board! Overall Score: 7.0/10 – Honestly, Toys Alliance did a good job with this Optimus Prime. It’s big, it’s articulated as hell, and the “bang for buck” factor is undeniable however what kept it from getting a higher score is the extremely weak joints on the right arm of mine even though it just sat on a shelf in a basic A-stance since I’ve had it. I didn’t go into purchasing this piece expecting something near the quality of the Ultimetal Optimus Prime, but that’s still pretty unacceptable for me. However, other people I’ve spoken to who own this piece state that they don’t have this problem so I’d say it’s definitely worth a purchase but just be weary and check your resources for problems that may come about down-the-line prior to dropping that payment.
