So Bandai Tamashii has done something that I’ve been hoping they would for quite some time and started producing Street Fighter characters under their figuarts line. As most companies do, they’ve decided to jump the line off with the game’s lead character, Ryu and I feel like they did a good job of bringing him into their world. Check out the video review as well as my overall thoughts and the gallery below and let me know what you think of Ryu in the comments.

Overall Score: 7.5/10 – My style preferences aside, I think that they’ve gotten a strong start to their Street Fighter V line with Ryu. I would have preferred a piece more slavish to the in-game design of Ryu but at the same time I do understand why they went with something more anime-neutral because it will appeal to people who collect Figuarts and other anime figures; particularly at this 6″ scale. As a figure, it’s extremely functional in terms of having great articulation and balance to the point where you can pretty much mimick anything Ryu does in-game and then some. The biggest gripe I have outside of design preference is where the swivel was placed on the arm. It’s below the bicep to where it would have been more functional and just-plain better looking placed beneath the shoulder. Even with those gripes, I definitely give this piece a thumbs up and would recommend it to those interested.
