Toy Review: Fans Hobby MB-06A Black Power Baser

Fans Hobby shows that they know how to do a redeco the right way with MB-06A Black Power Baser. Showcasing the best of the previously reviewed MB-06 Power Baser and then some, this one was fun to review. Presentation: My box was a reviewer sample box meaning that it’s the original Power baser’s box with a label over it stating what the item is (which works since they are the exact same item and no adjustments would need to be made.) This is likely because the box was not finished at the time of sending so I can’t give any opinions on it although I know the only thing that ended up being different is the artwork on the outside. The product itself is packed will into the clamshell.

Build: (Copying from the original Power Baser reviewed since this section is the same) This is a completely plastic piece and genuinely well-made. The plastics used are thick and the different finishes on them really compliment the colors to offset individual pieces. Outside of accents and tampos, Power Baser’s color separation is largely controlled by different colored plastics which I prefer. I didn’t have any q.c. (“quality control” which encompasses things like breaks due to construction and/or aesthetic defects.)

Accessories: The accessories are 1:1 the same as the original Power baser in two large blasters that can split and become smaller blasters for Black Power Baser’s base (uncombined) form as well as two shoulder dual blasters. The combined mode’s face has the option of utilizing the LED switch with clear eyes or switching the eyes out with included ones that are painted for a less “dead” look on display when the LEDs aren’t used.

Articulation: Not only does Black Power Baser retain all of the original, advanced articulation of the original but comes with the fully-articulated hands as well that are a separate upgrade purchase for the original. The strong joints and sturdy feel of it all makes this a really fun piece to play with too.

Overall Score: 9.5/10 – Fan’s Hobby’s Black Power Baser is exactly what it should be in terms of not only presenting an astounding color palette but also adding in upgrades/fixes from the original version. As much as I want to give it a higher score because of the improvements, Power Baser was a 9.5 as well and there’s really no where else to go without this toy being what I see as absolute perfection.
