It feels a bit like the end of an era with Master Made having now cycled through all of the “Citybots” from the G1 Transformers lore. With SDT-05 Odin they showed that they saved the biggest and arguably the most bold for last. This Fort Max homage is a big badassed and the amount of options that it has is pretty insane. Master Made was nice enough to include the “statue series” upgrade set for it as well so it will be gone over in this review. Check out the video above and of course the written review and gallery below and please leave a comment letting me know what you think of it all as well.

Presentation: The box for is standard Master Made with a cardboard outer showing off artwork of the main figure on front and artwork of the headmaster on back. It’s all really well done and the box is nice and big! The front has a flap that flips up showing the figure itself encased within the clamshell (really cool for MISB collectors.) The figure itself has flawless color and tampo applications and the fit and finish of it all is superb. Presentation like this is the reason I keep this as a section because when you look at it all without even giving it a playthrough you get the feel that they are a cut above the rest already.

Build: It’s standard Master Made fare with a mixture of strong plastics and diecast. Really tight joints top it off but I have to say that mine has quite a bit of squeaking going on when joints are moved.

Accessories: This thing comes jam-packed with accessories and the Statue only adds to it. Odin itself comes with a giant sword as well as a giant blaster. On top of that it comes with two really awesome gauntlets that fit over his forearms and fist and make him look like an absolute “unit” for lack of a better term. True to the Fort Max character it is a headmaster who’s headmaster is a headmaster (yep!) meaning that you’re essentially getting three fully-articulated and transforming robots in one package here. The statue series piece per normal gives it a head/upper chest replacement featuring a smaller, non-SD head as well as red blade pieces to swap out with the default green of the sword and tracks that can be placed either on Odin’s back or used as ramps in its fortress mode.

Articulation: With as big as it is, Odin really pulls off some impressive poses with above-average articulation as well as the joints both ratchet and friction being extremely smooth (even with the squeaking noise.)

Overall Score: 8.0/10 – They really nailed it with Odin in terms of aesthetic and engineering. I do think that the alternate modes could have been more cohesive but the theme of the line in general has been more cybertronian-styling with those so I understand the direction they went at least. While Apollo remains my favorite in terms of look/design, Odin is just plain impressive in how it towers above the rest (as it should.) It’s a solid piece and what keeps it out of the highest scoring range is the squeaking in joints which really does get annoying to listen to while playing with it. Overall this is a strong recommendation and something I consider a must if you’re already invested into the others in the line.
