Bandai Tamashii is keeping things going with the “Dragon Ball Super” Figuarts pieces and the latest is that version of Future Trunks. While I prefer the Dragon Ball Z iteration I really do feel like Bandai knocked it out and made a quality toy of the character here. As usual feel free to check out the video review as well as this article and gallery. Let me know what you think in the comments section; what characters would you like to see that aren’t announced yet?

Presentation: The box for Future Trunks is pretty standard with the designs going back to the Dragon Ball Super movie figures like Golden Frieza. It’s a really sleek and preferable layout but it’s used so frequently now that there isn’t really much to expand upon at this point.

Build: Per line standards, Future trunks is an entirely plastic piece and put together well. all of the joints work well and there aren’t any points that feel fragile to me. Even for being one of the smaller figures of the line it’s very sturdy.

Accessories: Future Trunks comes with a variety of posed hands, alternate faces (he comes with both regular and Super Saiyan heads with two faces each,) his removable sword sheath, both his whole and broken versions of the sword as well as the sword of light and galick gun effects pieces. Everything fits and changes out very smoothly but the highlight for me was how well he balances without using the included stand for the giant sword of light.

Articulation: The articulation on Future Trunks meets all of the 2.0 “new body” accommodations and it really makes me hope that at some point they can be bothered to do a Dragon Ball Z era future Trunks (either short or long hair but pants, jacket, tank top.)

Overall Score: 7.0/10 – Bandai Tamashii did a really good job here with Future Trunks in making a design that wasn’t really appealing to me (his Dragon Ball Super iteration) into something that I feel is pretty darned nice. A solid toy with pretty great accessories. I think anyone who buys this one won’t be disappointed.
