I want to say that Iron Factory is on a roll but let’s face it; they’ve been absolutely knocking it out of the park with every release for YEARS now. The latest release is their homage to the IDW comic styled Transformers character “Warpath” in IF EX-28 Burning Slug! They do an absolutely fantastic job of capturing the stout and blocky look of the character while giving it enough detail and articulation to make it a standout toy as well.

Presentation: Burning Slug’s box has the same graphical layout as pretty much every other Iron Factory figure and that’s definitely not a bad thing as it’s a good standard. The figure comes well packed in its bot mode inside of the plastic clamshell.

Build: Burning Slug continues to show that Iron Factory is well-past the days of having inconsistencies with joint quality and the build in general. consisting of strong, gloss-finished plastics, this piece feels and plays as well as it looks.

Accessories: Burning Slug comes with a blaster and two missile launchers which all transform and become filler pieces for Burning Slug’s alt. mode. It’s minimal, fits the bill, and the alt. mode implementation is genius to me.

Articulation: When it comes to Iron Factory releases, I’d say that Burning Slug falls right in the middle. It definitely meets the bare standard but really doesn’t do anything extraordinary in this area. Wrist swivels, ab crunch, and maybe even some more bend at the knees and ankle tilts would really give Burning Slug an extra push.

Overall Score: 8.0/10 – Iron Factory absolutely nailed the look and personality of Warpath with Burning Slug, however I wish that as a toy it had a bit more articulation with things like wrist swivels and possibly an ab crunch to stand out just a bit more than it does. As-is though, it definitely gets the job done and makes a fantastic looking Warpath on your Legends-scaled shelf. Burning Slug is very much so a “what you see is what you get” figure and while that’s not a bad thing, it’s really hard to be as excited for this one coming straight off of the phenomenal Cygnus which was just released a month ago.
