I’ve finally gotten a chance to take a look at the Maketoys Battle Sentinel. I was honestly waiting for the singular release of the Gento Core bot, but The Chosen Prime had it for sale at TFCon and it was a price I just couldn’t resist.

This is literally the sixth iteration of the Battle Tanker idea and the third using new/original core body (named “Gento” for this iteration.) With that, neither the video review or this written portion will be going in-depth in terms of features on the figure but rather try to provide a decent overview and comparisons to the original Battle Tanker (which was an upgrade for the “Reveal The Shield” deluxe Optimus Prime from Hasbro) so that people who are purchasing this again can get an idea of whether or not they feel it’s “worth” it. For anyone unfamiliar with the Battle Tanker series or this newer mold, please take a look at my reviews of the previous iterations:

Dagger Interspace Commando
Battle Sentinel SG SP
Hyper Novae
Nemesis Tanker

The difference between this set and the original Battle Tanker set is the inclusion of the “Gento” core robot. Although it has a lot of similar features to the RTS Optimus mold the the original was an upgrade for, it does have significant differences in terms of size and looks (as you can see in the gallery below.) The functionality is about the same as I don’t see anything significantly better about the poseability in comparison, but that’s not a bad thing as the RTS mold was a highly poseable figure in its own right. It’s definitely better, but I’ll leave whether or not it’s worth purchasing Battle Sentinel if you have the original version up to you all as viewers.

Overall Score: 8.0/10 – This is pretty awesome, but I wish that the Gento core style would have been there from the beginning rather than this originating as an upgrade, however if not for the original upgrade, Gento wouldn’t be here either, so naturally there has to be some compromise. I do want the pre-advertised Duke to come out and hopefully a new core boy for Dagger Interspace Commando as well, moreso to have all of these be the same height than anything else.

Check out a few pictures of these in the gallery, and if you like what you see don’t forget to order yours at the MakeToys Shop!
