Sentinel continues to give the Getter 1 love like no other company with this absolutely astounding homage to the version from “Getter Devolution” manga series. Sentinel definitely showed their creative chops with this sporting a new style of engineering and possessing an even more incredible balance and range of motion than the Riobot line is known for. Check the Getter Devolution Getter 1 in motion with the video above and take a moment to read through my thoughts and look at the gallery below.

Presentation: I have to say, I was actually impressed with the box itself right away. Not because of the graphics and whatnot (which are outstanding,) but because they (finally) used a more thick, sturdy-feeling cardboard. It literally FELT good to hold it. The figure and its accessories all all nicely packed into their clamshell as well and as soon as you open the box it stands out just how immaculate the paint and tampo placement on this piece is. It’s honestly just a beautifully done piece.

Build: Sentinel’s Getter Devolution Getter 1 has a diecast frame with strong plastics used to form he aesthetic shell. Everything is extremely sturdy and the friction-based joints flow extremely well. Lots of moving pieces and the like to really add to the high-end feel of it.

Accessories: This piece comes with three pairs of varied hands, one pair of which are holding Getter 1’s large blades. It also comes with an additional face, “anergized” pieces for the chest and shoulders, along with his (removable) cape and a stand. Everything swaps out extremely easily and I love that aspect of it because he looks so good in so many ways that it’s awesome to be able to switch the look without much hassle.

Note: There is a separately-sold (and sold out) upgrade set that includes wings, a tail, energized spikes for his forearm gauntlets, and a large axe (along with the accompanying hands) to convert this piece into his most current form in the ongoing manga.

Articulation: As beautiful as this piece is, it can be argued that the articulation is where this piece really shines. From butterflying shoulders, to mutliple levels of neck movement and ab crunch, along with joints that move well beyond standard range, this thing is just a treat to pose. The smooth joints and moving parts also make this something that’s really fun to just

Overall Score: 10/10 -Sentinel has truly outdone itself with the Getter Devolution Getter 1. I had a strong feeling it was going to be good, but not THIS good. From the fit and finish to the engineering, this toy not only hits on all levels but honestly excels. Within the next few weeks I should have the upgrade set for this and look forward to reviewing it as well but until then I highly recommend this piece. Getter Devolution Getter 1 is simply incredible.
