Sen-ti-nel has released the latest in their Riobot series of mecha figures with (R14) Mazinkaiser, and it’s a treat. I encourage you to check out the video portion of this review because as much as I can relay the features of this product in writing, there are aspects that I feel should be seen in motion to fully relay what I’m attempting to get across. I can write about how fine the detailing is, how smooth the paint is, and how fun he is to pose around. I can write about how great he looks next to the other Sen-ti-nel produced mecha figures or just how much of a centerpiece it is when shelved. I can even write about just how easy it is to change out the tons of accessories that he comes with. I can write about all of these things, but it’s another thing for you to actually see what I’m talking about.

What I can do here in writing is give you a general “run down” on this piece and share my thoughts on it. Riobot Mazinkaiser is 8.25″ tall and carries a good amount of diecast in the legs, chest, upper-abdomin, legs and feet area making for a nicely sized and hefty piece. Between the weightiness and the fit and finish of the paint, it legitimately has the “feel” of a quality figure in-hand. This figure itself would demand a higher price, but the included accessories really drive up the value. Things like additional hands, Kaiser swords, and the absolutely beautiful Jet Scrander really boost the value on this both in terms of monetary and play. Even though it stands fine on its own even with the huge scrander attached, the included stand not only adds security while displaying, but adds some nice display options with the rocket-punch attachments!

Overall Score: 9.0/10 – Having collected this product line throughout the years, it’s fantastic to see such a culmination of things such as design and quality on Mazinkaiser. I think that its overall “ease of use” is just as impressive as the figure itself. What keeps this from being a “perfect” 10 for me is the lack of true waist swivel. While I do have other, more minor nitpicks like the Scrander not sitting flush on his back, the lack of swivel at the waist (note again that it does have it where the chest meets sternum) makes for a significant difference in terms of posing and how it looks in photographs. Overall though, this is a fantastic piece and a centerpiece of my Super Robot collections. This gets an extremely high recommendation from me.
