Sentinel continues their 4inch-nel line branching out to Mashin Hero Wataru with the main protagonist Ikusabe Wataru. Coming loaded with accessories, they really did go for a definitive figure to go along with the upcoming Metamor-Force RyuouMaru. Check out my thoughts here and let me know what you think as well!

Presentation: The box for Wataru is par for the course with all of the other 4inch-nel single-figure boxes I’ve gotten to date. Same layout with the clear portion in front and even same graphic designs and whatnot throughout the box. The figure came very neatly packed in the clamshell as well.

Build: 4inch-nel Wataru is an entirely plastic piece with no real build issues besides the hips really being hard to keep straight vs. tilted when posing from me. I don’t think it’s as much of a build/quality issue as it just having an unnecessary tilt feature that is hard to keep straight (this is something more seen in female figures.)

Accessories: Per retailer listing, these are the accessories include:

The Sword of Brave
The King’s Sword
The Sword of the Dragon King
Roller-skate feet
2 Facial expressions
6 Hands
Figure stand

Overall the accessories are pretty good and even the fine details like the skates having rolling wheels is nice. I do like the way that the swords disassemble to be held and have the hilts go inside of the (unlisted) sheath that pegs into Wataru’s back.

Articulation: The articulation is much like the other figures of the line and even has butterflying shoulders but between the thicker arms due to the sleeves and the aforementioned hips posing and playing just isn’t as fun/easy as the others I’ve played with from the line.

Overall Score: 6.0/10 – Even though there’s nothing outstandingly wrong with this figure, the 4inch-nel Wataru just doesn’t do it for me. Where I think the line has given characters like iterations of Megaman and even the Getter Robo pilots great representation, this one just really feels “plain” to a fault. I feel like it will make a great display piece next to the upcoming Metamor-Force Ryuoumaru but as a standalone figure it really doesn’t do anything to stand out.
