Fans Hobby rounds out their Power Baser repaints with MB-06B Purple Power Baser. This homage to the “Shattered Glass” version of Optimus Prime is a different take in that the figure itself is actually the PowerMaster version, so this takes an already mean/intimidating mold and makes it look even more so with the deco. Since this is a direct repaint of the already-reviewed MB-06A Black Power Baser, I’ll refer to that for all of the details of the mold and just use the video and gallery here to show the differences in deco.
Overall Score: 8.0/10 – Shattered Glass Optimus is easily one of my favorite versions and decos of Optimus Prime so I’m fairly “anal” about how homages to it are treated and I have to say that this is one of my favorites. Minus the lack of crack in the mask Purple Power Baser really knocks out the look. Of the three releases so far the Purple Power Baser is definitely my favorite aesthetically and considering that it does come with the upgraded, articulated hands on top of the articulated bumper I can say that it also brings the best of things in terms of engineering as well. With ad admittedly strong bias I give this almost as strong of a recommendation.
