I don’t know how to even introduce ThreeA’s Premium-Scaled homage to the Transformers: The Last Knight Optimus Prime without just going into full-on gush mode prior to the breakdown. To put it lightly, this piece absolutely brings it and I can’t even look at it on my shelf without being impressed. Check out the video above as well as my thoughts and gallery below and let me know what you think of this one as well in the comments.

Presentation: Both the Premium-Scaled Optimus Prime and Bumblebee I Received came in large , styrofoam boxes with laminated sleeves that fold around the boxes and velcros together at the ends to hold it all closed without any sort of annoying actual “lock.” The figures and their accessories are all well-packed inside of the styrofoam via separate, properly-shaped insert areas for each piece. What’s nice is that certain parts of these figures that could potentially break come disassembled to avoid this (and don’t worry, it’s just pieces that peg in or pop on via balljoint.)

Build: This Optimus Prime is an all plastic piece which like Bumblebee really works for its sheer size and amount of articulation it has. Everything looks and feels superb and the paint job is just immaculate. Like Bumblebee, it has LEDs in the eyes as well and while not as bright as Bee’s, it does have the ability to switch between purple or blue in color to represent either Optimus or Nemesis Prime from The Last Knight.

Something also has to be said for the LEDs on this thing; it has two sets of LEDs each using two, LR44 batteries to light up the eyes and headlights on the chest. each of these sets of lights are so bright that this figure can legitimately be used as a flashlight and the color of the chest lights properly emulate the LED-styled headlights used on actual vehicles. Truly beautiful./p>

Accessories: Optimus comes with a sword, shield, and forearm blade along with the appropriate adapters and replacement pieces to hold and store them. the shield has the ability to transform into its alternate form and has additional pieces to form either a long or short blaster within it. The longer blaster has an LED switch that activates red lights in all three of the barrels.

The Deluxe/Exclusive Version comes with an additional head that doesn’t have the red marking on one of the sides of the helmet. Like the default helmet, it has the ability to switch between two eye colors.

Articulation: For being as big and having so many armor pieces, the high-level of articulation on Optimus is just mind boggling. Although it’s a bit more hindered than Bumblebee, it definitely hits a wide variety of dynamic poses. See the video portion to watch it in motion.

Overall Score: 10/10 – Like I’d stated in the Bumblebee review, I truly do believe that the movie (Bayverse) styled Transformers are best represented in non-transforming toys due to the sheer amount of detailing they have vs. the cartoons (and let’s be real; the amount of “cheating” they use to transform between modes) and this Optimus Prime really cements it. You look at this in a static pose and fairly easily mistake it for a statue, even. This Optimus Prime is a piece that just plain brings it top-to-bottom and will stand out on your shelf for a variety of reasons.
