MakeToys had dropped the fourth figure in their “Guardia” (Defensor) combiner team with Katana. For me, this is definitely the standout of the group so far and it’s a fun piece to mess around with.

At almost 6″ tall, Katana looks pretty impressive size-wise next to most classic Transformers in general. Where it really knocks it out aesthetically is it’s proportions. Katana has a very “sleek” and slim look in its robot mode that really gives it a more ninja-esque feel. The poseability is great too, however the area where the arms are “pegged in” pretty consistently comes loose when rotating the shoulders and moves along with what you’re trying to do. Outside of that, it’s pretty fun to mess around with and pose. The accessories are decent, but I think it could have been fine without the two, large blasters and just going with the larger sword instead.

The transformation is relatively simple and I’d say maybe 3-4 minutes tops to get done and checked over. The helicopter alt. mode is impressive and very cohesive to look at. I wish the top blades spun more freely but at the same time, that would mean that they’d have to peg in more loosely and the product as a whole would definitely suffer/

Overall Score: 7.5/10 – I feel that this will definitely be the “Blindfire” of this Guardia set.
