Fansproject’s highly-anticipated WB-008 Trianix Alpha has dropped and it feels well worth the wait. This 8″ powerhouse of an homage to the Diaclone toy DiaBattles really fits in well with the stylings of this line (and unfortunately, this and the upcoming DAI-Z retool are two of the last designed by this particular designer for this company; Sir, if you’re reading this, thank you for what you’ve done) and the simplistic transformations of the three vehicles (driven by “The Three Kings” Melix, Balthazar, and Casper; Solerons who become interchangeable breast and shoulder masters) coupled with a high level of poseability really make this a “fun” piece. The video portion of this article gives a good look at it all with comparisons and a walk-through of the transformation, and I’ve included a full-gallery below as well. Feel free to email me with any further picture requests.

Note: I have previously reviewed a pre-production sample of this here. The quality of the finished/final product is vastly improved but it has been found that there is a universal issue with its waist (mine included.) There is a clip that connects the torso to the waist when combining the vehicles together to form the robot that is too tight and breaks when trying to pull the body halves apart for disassembly. FPCore has issued a statement regarding this promising a fix and discouraging anyone from fixing it themselves.

Overall Score: 7.0/10 – Everything about this figure is an easy 8.0-9.0/10; It’s a great looking, poseable, pseudo-combiner that revives what I feel is Fansproject’s most strong line of products. However, the current issue with the waist not being able to be separated without modification (FPCore has promised a fix for this issue to come at a currently unannounced time) really takes away from the experience and has left a poor taste in a portion of the collecting community’s mouth. It also doesn’t help that this has happened after a mutlti-month delay in general. Here’s hoping for a quick fix to this which is also applied to the upcoming Dai-Z retool, and for FPCore to get a better shake in terms of issues with releases. Both Fansproject and FPCore are entities created and ran by people who aren’t just passionate about Transformers or toys, but about being able to give us collectors something special.

Fansproject as a company is one that has introduced quite a few of the 3rd-Party Transformers collectors to the niche, and there’s definitely a strong emotional attachment from the fandom because of it. So, I think I can speak for quite a few when I say that I hope for a strong 4th quarter for this company. Both they and the fans who support them deserve it.
