Iron Factory’s IF EX-14 is a pretty spot on homage to the “Stormbringer” version of Optimus Prime. I’m a sucker for Cybertronian (pre-Earth) designs and the Stormbringer series in particular had what I consider some of the best Cybertronian designs ever brought to life, so needless to say that there’s a very strong natural bias. Overall Score: 7.0/10 – Iron Factory’s Ultimate Commander definitely brings it in the looks department but falls a bit behind in the articulation area; particularly in its armored mode. Overall, it’s a nice piece and I love the look of all of its modes but I do wish that it was a bit more refined. Even things like the front wheels not turning would just be nice because it feels like it should be standard. On the other hand, there’s also something to be said for just how much comes in the box in terms of accessories and even an Elita-1 figure (to be reviewed later.) It’s definitely a bang for your buck and then some but I do wish that it was more playable.
