Got a mail haul yesterday from TFSource consisting of Mastermind Creations’ Spartan as well as Re:Master GunDog and MTCMR Rover from MakeToys. I won’t get to start the reviews for a day or two, but wanted to share a few pictures and thoughts of each item while I wait to really get my hands dirty with these.

Maketoys Rover: This is the kind of stuff that keeps me a regular with MakeToys and Fansproject items (note: they ARE two separate companies… chill.) That neo-g1 look with that really nice anime tinge really wins me over, and the poseability is definitely on point. I love his dual blasters as well. I haven’t opened the instructions, but saw the stickers packed in the wrapping, and said a very strong, “no.” to myself. Don’t do stickers, but look forward to doing the transformation. Here’s hoping that the transformation is just as simplistic as the aesthetic on this one.

Maketoys GunDog: Aesthetically, I’m really digging this one. I went with the “N” version of it which has a more cartoon-esque coloring and decor and overall I’m just really loving that it reminds me of a more “grown up” version of Classics Hound which is one of my favorite Transformers toys in general. The poseability is nic, and I love that it even has an ab crunch. Looking over the instructions, the transformation looks like it could be iffy, but I’ll reserve judgement for when I actually go at it.

Mastermind Creations Spartan: I haven’t even transformed it yet, and I feel like this is everything a Classics-Styled Transformers toy should be. I cannot wait to get to reviewing and really shooting it, and my fingers are crossed that the transformation is pretty straightforward and intuitive for me as opposed to something like their Azalea figure. It really has the feelings of a hit and it’s great to really have an excited feeling to mess around with a product because at times this can get a bit exhausting. Does MMC really do anything wrong nowadays? Damn.

Those are just some quick thoughts and again, I’ve barely spent any time with these but take a look at the pictures I did get to shoot and let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
